Brady and Burress had big games, again. Roseville just keeps on rolling with the
usual suspects. Dale Street needed TO to perform some serious primetime antics,
and he caught just two balls. No two ball jokes.

Alley
Cats 26, Robber Barons 23
Someone for the Robber Barons always seems to step up their game at exactly the
right time. This week it was Kris Brown, a brand new acquisition who is better
known for his shanks than clutch kicks. He filled the void left by Minneapolis
players not named Manning. The Alley Cats welcomed back an old friend in the form
of Neil Rackers, got a little SNF help from Greg Jennings and were able to count
on Romo to stay hot through Monday night, where he scored 9 to clinch the victory.
Just 10 yards less and we'd have our first tie of the season. This was a great
game between two divisional leaders that could be the warmup for the V Conference
championship game.

Dirty
Dogs 36, Lakers 30
The Lakers started the right Giants RB (but could've used both); the Dirty Dogs
started the wrong Titans RB, but they ended up just squeaking by a Lakers squad
that was pushing hard through the 4th quarter on Monday night. Favre finally got
a chance to play for real with Palmer on a bye week, and DeShawn Wynn backed up
his hefty price tag from a couple of weeks back. Loeb was left to rely on the
relatively unproven Trent Edwards/Patrick Crayton combo to work a comeback. Crayton
came through, but Edwards was stymied and the Lakers fell a TD shy.

Pongos
25, Pipers 12
K and QB points were scarce in this contest until high-priced kicker, Nick Folk,
stepped up and kicked ass on MNF. Ronnie Brown came alive for the Pipers, but
Cooley, Leonard, and Folk were all solid for the Pongos. Julius Jones couldn't
match Folk's firepower, and the Pongos avoided starting out 0-5 for the second
season in a row. Not to mention that they were the only Whale Division team to
win this week. Can you say "immediately back in the race"?

Screaming
Eagles 47, Speed 31
Of all of the back-up RBs who have gotten the chance to carry the load, Kenton
Keith has been the most impressive. His huge game led Nord'east to a commanding
lead that they didn't give up in the late game. The Speed are 2-3 despite breaking
30 every week but one...and they won that sub-30 game.
Speed fans have
at least one thing to look forward to in the coming weeks. They're returning to
St. Paul in both location and name. Yes, the Twin Cities will be shrinking to
the St. Paul Speed in 2008, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Upper
Arundel Entertainment Complex (UAEC) is slated for October 22.
Some claim the
new field is an abomination that will dwarf the nearby friendly confines of Front
Recreation Center (home of the Bunnies). Speed owner, Greg Sax, claims it will
be quite the contrary. "We consider Upper Arundel hallowed ground,"
he said in an official statement after today's loss. "We would not have purchased
the property that the Upper Arundel Stuck made famous with championships in 1985
and 1986 if we did not intend to honor the honored traditions of the Stuck franchise."
He later added with a sly grin, "Booze is traditional, right?"

Communists
36, Showboats 12
Watching the 'boats is painful this season. Pittman signed a big contract with
the Showboats and was promptly carted off the field. VJax not only scored from
the Texas bench but also helped Rivers rack up some stats. Enough stats, in fact,
to garner their first win of the season well before Jason Witten and the Bills
D rubbed it in in front of millions of viewers on MNF.

Apocalypse
27, Buzz 6
Jaguars, Jets and Falcons—oh my! Meanwhile Steeler RB Najeh Davenport sat
on the Buzz bench with his two TDs. Once again this season, Waukesha can only
be comforted by the fact that the benched points wouldn't have made a difference.
McNair only moved the Ravens efficiently enough to put Stover in field goal range.
Fitzgerald had another big game for the Apocalypse with Anquan Boldin out again
in Arizona.

Bunnies
21, Neandertals 17
With a roster decimated by injuries, Front started a lot of unfamiliar faces.
And with Hasselbeck doing his Harrington imitation, Ben Watson took it upon himself
to show the newbies how it's done. Maple Grove closed the gap with a decent outing
from Mason Crosby on Sunday night, leaving it up to MBIII to score once for the
win on Monday. Nope. Front wins. Maple Grove loses another close one.
