Crystal's Work @ Madison Bear Garden a.k.a. "The Bear"

Crystal has been working as a DJ at a college Club/Restaurant in downtown Chico. She works with the friendliest staff and they're always making our family feel right at home.

(Top: Every wall and ceiling is enshrouded with random memorabilia, including a stuffed horse, jet cockpit, wagon, missle shells, and many TV's)

Crystal's co-worker, Burke is so helpful, he even helps carry her to the bathroom...now that's top-notch customer service.

Crystal decides to up the ante...and takes the family to the Crazy Horse

(I'm going to utterly regret documenting this event...it really is crazy at the Crazy Horse - OMIGOD!)

Faces are starting to take a rosey-hue from the top-notch Coors Light served in mason jars - and NO - we did not ride the bull.

At times, I felt as if we had taken a wrong turn and ended up in some bizzare town in Oklahoma...

Hey, I'm a firm believer in trying EVERYTHING at least once (excluding the mechanical bull ride).

See! Now do you believe me? Coors Light is BAD! Look at what it has done to these perfectly normal girls!

We finish the night, back in the warm and friendly arms of Crystal's work place, The Bear.

The family that drinks together, stays together, share hang-overs the next morning together, and then enters AA together. (I'm only teasing you, Mom.)

Yes. We are a very close family. *smile*

I should just stop explaining...

My wonderfully cute and loving parents. I will say this about Chico, it was cool to see other families out and about with their kids. Sure it was kinda strange at first to be completely partying with the folks, but really - it was a great time and experience, and I'm glad we all shared the same night, together, having fun and knowing that your parents are pretty cool friends too. Yes. We are a close family.

We did the normal family thing on Sunday, visiting the local Fair. The pictures just pale in comparison, so I'll end with these...

5.28.2005 - Summary

  • The family meets in Chico, where Crystal and her boyfriend, Andrew have been attending college.
  • Next, dinner at my favorite, the Seirra Nevada Brewing Company.
  • The remainder of the day is well documented, above. Crystal walked us around downtown, and at first only "the kids" were going to paint the town red, but we convinced the parental units to join along - and I must say, we had a GREAT time together. We didn't hide a thing...they got to see what most college students do on a Saturday in Chico.
  • The parents learned some things, the kids learned some things, but above all, our family loves and respects each other, and I'm damn proud of each and every one of them. Mom and Dad - ya did good!

5.29.2005 - Summary

  • The day starts with a relaxing walk by the lake (just feet away in Crystal's backyard) with her little dog, Maxine. I really need to get photos of her amazing apartment. Crystal and Andrew live at water-front apartment, and they go boating and fishing in the lake behind them, daily. Across the lake are huge homes and the environment is not a typical college shit-hole, its really nice. I didn't get any pictures...but next time.
  • Mom plans the day today, so we visit the local fair. We had yummy deep-fried food, good laughs, a cooking show, saw a cow in labor, and did the normal family thing. Its was a good time.
  • Later in the day, there was some fishing, Andrew caught a small bass and threw it back into the lake, we ate a GREAT meal to send us home with full bellies, and then finally said our good-byes (which no-one in our family is good at, except Mom).
  • Thank- You, Crystal and Andrew for letting us crash at your place, eat your food, steal your dog at night, and watch your Family Guy box set over and over, again! We love you lots, Carly
It was a memorable, Memorial Weekend.
