June 2008:
I'm ba-a-a-a-a-ack. I was almost getting bored with myself and then whoa! May 6th: I was 30 days away from my 30th birthday and Greg started giving me gifts. Thirty gifts for thirty years. Yep, that's right. I'm all grown-up, thirty and flirty, I'm the new 20s. Well, perhaps not. I'm not really grown-up and I've never really been flirty. I still don't talk to strangers and I stopped acting 20 somewhere in my late teens.

But I digress...let's get back to 30 days & 30 gifts.

30 Days & 30 Gifts:
My biggest gift from Greg was a 3-day trip to Chicago. Holy crap was that fun! I'll tell you more in a bit (not that you can't see the best parts in the photos), but first I want to run down my 30 gifts: 1) lottery tickets, 2) cleaning my room, 3) candles, 4) Jimmy John's gift certificates, 5) InTouch magazine subscription, 6) dinner out, 7) gift certificate to Dots (clothing store), 8) Rilo Kiley concert tickets at First Avenue, 9) movie gift certificate, 10) Chelsea Handler's first book, 11) earrings, 12) Chelsea Handler's second book, 13) Saints baseball tickets...

30 Days & 30 Gifts (cont.):
...14) Twins hat with my name embroidered on it, 15) dress shoes, 16) a Guinness sign, 17) detailed/washed my car, 18) picture frame, 19) more lottery tickets, 20) hotel stay in Chicago, 21) Bedlam theater tickets, 22) breakfast at M. Street Cafe in the St. Paul Hotel, 23) planned trip to Chicago, 24) tickets to a comedy club with Gina & Jason, 25) mystery gift certificate, 26) home-cooked 5-course meal, 27) surprise lunch at work (spicy beef lo mein), 28) White Sox tickets in Chicago, 29) framed pictures of my family and 30) our marriage license!

Chicago:
After totally being blown away by ALL of Greg's gifts, he throws me in a car for 6 hours and takes me away to Chicago. Now for those who haven't been to a city, this is a city's city. They have the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and of course 2, not 1, but 2 baseball teams.

The Windy City is a city divided by their baseball. You're either a Cubs fan or you're a White Sox fan. We were, however, Minnesota Twins fans.

Chicago:
We showed up on Friday and hit Wrigley Field first. After some touristy photos, we went down the street to Goose Island Brewery and sampled some tasty beers. Let's just say I was more impressed with the beer than the brewery. You could tell the place was more for Cubs fans than beer fans, and I felt the beer deserved more respect. We paid our tab and decided to visit a place that was all about the beer, an Irish pub. Satisfied, we sat back and watched the first of 3 dismal Twins vs. White Sox games.

Chicago:
Saturday was Greg's Mission Impossible: pack all of Chicago in 1 day.

First item of the day was deep dish pizza. We visited the original Pizzeria Uno in downtown, and I was not let down. That pizza was crazy delicious.

Moving along...drink a beer, catch a water taxi, boat up & down downtown Chicago, go by Rush Street, check out the Magnificent Mile, see Harry Caray's and even manage to fit in Navy Pier.

Chicago:
By the time we arrive at Navy Pier, I'm pooped. But we have another beer, watch the Belmont Stakes, peek at Lake Michigan and also snap some photos at Millenium Park (big silver bean).

It's only about 6:30 p.m. at this point and we catch the L-Train to U.S. Cellular Field to finally watch our Twins game vs. the White Sox. All in all, I'm glad we visited the park, but the game was a bust. They killed us. The fans were kind enough, and the rain delays weren't so bad either.

Sunday Morning Coming Down:
I was tired by Sunday, and we jumped in the car and headed to Greg's alma mater: University of Wisconsin - Madison.

We strolled State Street, saw the famous terrace at the student union, and even walked up Bascom Hill. Nice campus, but I was done. The rain started to come down and it didn't go away for the entire ride back to the Twin Cities.

The end. That's enough for this girl. Let's go home. We had fun.

More Saints Baseball:
I'll end this update with some happy photos from Memorial Day weekend at the Saints baseball game. I know there seems to be tons of baseball in my life, but it's summer.

The transitive property of equality says that if a = b, and b = c, then a = c.

Summer = Hot Dogs & Beer, and Hot Dogs & Beer = Baseball, then Summer = Baseball!
