Earning my winter coat...

What do people do in the midst of -41 degree wind chill? I'll tell you what they do...they freeze.

So if you're going to freeze, you might as well be busy searching for a medallion hidden somewhere, anywhere in a park in Ramsey County. OK, make sure you have a couple libations somewhere within arm's reach, but keep moving otherwise the cold will get you.

New Discovery for 2008: Frozen Eyelashes.

Medallion Hunt (Jan. 20-31)

Each night after work, G. and I would pack on the winter gear and head out to the parks. I was pushing hard for Phalen; then Como; oh wait, it's Battle Creek; and then, oh crap, it's at Indian Mounds! Then you find yourself hiking through snow and ice in the woods well past midnight and well past your bedtime on a frigid Wednesday night.

Oh well...at least I got to wear my new headlamp.

Winter Carnival (Jan. 23-Feb. 3)

Beyond the medallion hunt, G. kept us busy with the Saint Paul Bouncing Team. Most of these photos are from the Grande Day Parade where G. and the team participated.

Buttons: Winter Carnival patrons show their support and their history by donning buttons. Groups associated with the carnvial release new buttons every year. I've become quite the collector.

Carly and G.

I guess I should address the amount of hair on G.'s face. I'll start by telling you it's gone now. He's back to the clean-shaven man he was when I met him. Oh wait, he had hair down to his shoulders when I met him. He's back to the man he was when we moved here.

So there...he's gotten that out of his system...

The Gopher Bar

If you're coming to Saint Paul, you must stop at The Gopher Bar. Before you enter, leave all your ideas of customer service at the door. In fact, leave all of your manners at the door. They'll serve you cold beer, coney dogs and tell you they "don't take fucking credit cards or personal checks." And they'll say it just like that. I know it sounds harsh, but you'll leave with a good story. The coneys are well worth it and so is Keith (fingers to the right).

G.'s beard puzzles me...

That was corny (or coney!), but it's hard coming up with witty titles to these late night web page excursions. G. and I have a thang for puzzles. Our strengths as a team comes out during these messes. He's great at the things I have no patience for, and I'm obssessive over the parts he has too much creativty for. He's great at putting the colors and like subject matter together and I'm great at fitting them together.

Puzzles...

We're very strategic with our puzzling. I quickly pull the edges and establish our perimeters (build borders) while G. groups the pieces just the way I like them and then I become "Sky Captain." I basically finish all the damn sky pieces while G. does the fun stuff.

It's like couples' therapy.

Queen of the Shibas

Oh come on...they're just so effing cute! I love my dogs (here's where I can't find the words). They make me so happy :-) See, I'm putting those irritating smiley icons for lack of better words (or actual words). They fart, they eat, they poop, then try to eat their poop, then I yell "Stop eating your shit, you fucking idiots!" But I love them so much!

See you next update! Love ya!
